Abstract

Canton in Polish Travel Writing of the First Half of the 20th Century The topic of the paper are the descriptions of the city of Canton in Polish travel writing of the first half of the 20th century. The primary focus is the works of following Polish authors: Halina Bujakowska, Roman Fajans, Antoni Ferdynand Ossendowski, Witold Urbanowicz. Methodology of research is based on imagology and postcolonialism. The analysis of the image of Canton will concentrate on three broad topics: 1) Canton as the heart of China, 2) Canton as a city of contrasts, 3) curiosities of Canton.
