Czynniki długookresowych zmian na rynkach surowcowych (na przykładzie rynku drzewnego EWG)

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to distinguish and define relative importance of factors influencing long-term tendencies of changes on raw-materials markets, on: the example of the EEC wood market. The author discusses separately factors influencing the long-term changes in. structure and size of demand, and factors influencing the long-term changes in structure and size of supply. As to the factors influencing the long-term changes in structure and size of demand, the author analyses: the level and rate of economic growth, changes in. the rate of building investment, changes in the output of furniture, package and paper industries, changes in mining and railway industries, changes in the level and relations of wood prices, demographic changes, the possibilities of substitution, changes in consumers' preferences, changes in wood availability and changes in the structure of the economy. As to the factors influencing the long-term changes in structure and size of supply, the author analyses: the area of forests, constant institutional factors (especially the owership structure), investment in forestry, financial and fiscal factors availability of labour, the level of mechanization, the technology of wood production, ecological factors, import of wood, a long-term policy of wood industryand the state interventionism.
