Zintegrowana historia Holokaustu. Studium historiografii Saula Friedländera

Abstract

Ogólne zadanie prezentowanego studium historiografii Saula Friedländera stanowi próbę systematyzacji wątków „zintegrowanej historii” Holokaustu na drodze badania szeregu różnych kontekstów metodologicznych, narracyjnych i kronikarskich jego dwutomowego dzieła Nazi Germany and the Jews. Pewną nicią przewodnią moich badań jest reinterpretacja apokaliptycznego kontekstu w trzech wymiarach opus magnum żydowskiego historyka – analitycznym, ewokatywnym i temporalnym. W części pierwszej „Historia zintegrowana” omówiłem apokaliptyczny kontekst odnosząc się do trzech wyjaśniających płaszczyzn na poziomie makrohistorycznym: po pierwsze, „kryzysu liberalizmu”, po drugie, „antysemityzmu zbawczego”, i, po trzecie, „sakralizowanego modernizmu”. W części drugiej „Historia integrująca” przybliżam apokaliptyczny kontekst odsyłając do trzech sfer na poziomie mikrohistorycznym: życia codziennego, głosów ofiar i pamięci mitycznej. W części trzeciej „Ramy temporalne” próbowałem odsłonić ciągłości i zerwania apokaliptycznego kontekstu indeksując trzy horyzonty sukcesji czasu na poziomie metahistorycznym – odróżnione przeze mnie, lecz niezróżnicowane w narracji kronikarskiej – wewnątrz trzech ram temporalnych: apokaliptycznej, kairotycznej i mesjanicznej. The general task of the presented study of Saul Friedländer’s historiography is an attempt to systematize the threads of the „integrated history” of the Holocaust by examining a number of different methodological, narrative and chronicling contexts of his two-volume work Nazi Germany and the Jews. Certain guiding thread of my research is the reinterpretation of the apocalyptic context in the three dimensions of Jewish historian’s magnum opus – analytical, evocative and temporal. In the first part, „Integrated History”, I discussed the apocalyptic context by relating to the three explanatory surfaces at the macro-historical level: firstly, the „crisis of liberalism”, secondly, the „redemptive anti-Semitism” and, thirdly, the „sacralized modernism”. In the second part, „Integrative history”, I approximate the apocalyptic context by referring to the three spheres at the micro-historical level: everyday life, victims’ voices and mythical memory. In the third part, „Temporal frameworks”, I tried to reveal the continuity and discontinuity of the apocalyptic context by indexing three horizons of the succession of time at the metahistorical level – differentiated by me, but undifferentiated in the chronical narrative – inside three temporal frames: apocalyptic, kairotic and messianic.
