Wizja człowieka i świata w ujęciu rzymskiego stoicyzmu na przykładzie „Rozmyślań” Marka Aureliusza

Abstract

Przedmiotem artykułu jest przedstawienie najważniejszych elementów rzymskiej odmiany filozofii stoickiej. Zostają one ukazane za pomocą pogłębionej analizy jednego z najważniejszych dzieł z tego zakresu – „Rozmyślań” rzymskiego cesarza Marka Aureliusza. Na wstępie niniejszej pracy, Autor wskazuje krótko na historię życia cesarza, która miała znaczący wpływ na jego filozofię. Następnie, publikacja koncentruje się na poszczególnych poglądach zawartych w „Rozmyślaniach”, poprzez wskazanie na stosunek filozofa na tronie do najważniejszych składników ludzkiego życia. Artykuł wskazuje ponadto na stanowisko Marka Aureliusza wobec zagadnień metafizycznych, takich jak śmierć czy religia. W konkluzji, zostają przedstawione najważniejsze tezy cesarskiej filozofii.The issue of the most relevant components of the Roman stoicism is the subject of the article. These elements are shown by the means of a deep analysis of one of the most important works from this part of philosophy – “Meditations” of Marcus Aurelius. At the beginning of this work, Author points out shortly the history of the emperor’s life, which had a great impact on his philosophical point of view. Subsequently, the publication concentrates on particular opinions included in the “Meditations” by indicating the relations between the emperor on the throne and the man’s life elements. The article also points out Marcus Aurelius’s position concerning the metaphysical issues like death or religion. The conclusions of the article indicate the most important theses of emperor’s philosophy.
