Nauczanie statystyki i demografii na uniwersytetach węgierskich (1777 -1977)

Abstract

The author of the study refers to the most importa at stages of the two hundred years progress, he discusses the work of the famous professors who have contributed to the education of statistics at the Hungarian universities as well as the main tendencies of the education. He shows the changes following the liberation of the country in 1945 which led to the expansion of the organizational framework of the education and to development of special branches of statistics. The author evaluates the participation of the Hungarian statisticians in the scientific life. He touches upon the close and friutful connection of the statistical departments of the universities and of the Central Statistical Office.
