Ubersetzer als Problemloser. Eine qualitative Studie zum Problemloseverhalten von semiprofessionellen Ubersetzern

Abstract

This book falls under the area of empirical research into the translation process. The focus lies on the problem-solving behaviour of semi-professional translators with the language pair German/Polish. The main corpus of research material are think aloud protocols, i.e. transcribed records of thoughts the subjects had in mind while translating. The data corpus is explored from three perspectives in this publication. The first step aims at synoptically describing the intraindividual profiles of the subjects. The second analytical procedure concerns the comparison of the problem solving strategies. The culmination of the analysis is a general diagnosis of the problem solving behavior of the subjects in the light of the complex problem solving paradigm.
