Abstract

The problems presented in this paper are those connected with building production function for handicraft, exemplified by the watchmakers' trade. The considered model is the power function of the Coob-Douglas type. Statistical materials for the verification of the model come from a sample survey carried out in handicraft in the year 1969 and have the character of cross section series. A list of explanatory variables was proposed on the grounds of those materials. The choice of optimum combination of variables was made by means of the method suggested by Z. Hellwig. The method consists in estimation of the measures of integral information capacity of the particular combinations of variables. The obtained results helped to state that the constructed models of production function in handicraft will have synthetic and predictive significance.
