Abstract

The article attempts to reconstruct the stay of the legendary band Buffalo Bill's Wild West in Krakow in 1906. On 4 and 5 August, 4 performances combining the conventions and style of a nineteenth-century circus with admirable reconstructions of historical events were presented to a large audience. The author describes the course of the visit of the band admired all over the world, discusses the reactions of the audience and the ways in which the circus company operates. The considerations were based primarily on little-known press releases. The text also includes references to a football match played (on Sunday, 5 August 1906) by Krakow footballers with the Buffalo Bill's Wild West team in Krakow's Blonie.
