Abstract

The number of pornographic materials available on the Polish market is constantly on the increase, which poses the question concerning the possible impact on the psychosexual development of children and youths. It seems that premature contact with pornography, in particular in children brought up in the rigorous model, can have negative consequences. This is true in the case of information on intimate life collected during contact with pornography (types of sexual practices, amount of time devoted to sexual activity) and the attitudes concerning sexuality (stereotypical perception of sexes, belief in myths concerning rape). Therefore, it seems important that children are brought up with reliable information on sexual life, which is the only way to protect them from uncritical acceptance of pornographic content.
