Abstract
Theories of social capital are discussed. The first part of the paper is devoted to Witold
Trąmpczyński’s conception. The second part presents concepts formulated by other thinkers, Witold
Trąmpczyńskfs contemporaries. In the concluding part dilemmas arising from different interpretations
of social capital are analysed.
