Abstract

The presented elaboration is an attempt to show some demographic phenomena of the town of Kraków and neighbouring communes in the latter part of the last century. The situation and dynamics of the total number of population, its structure by sex as well as basic elements of natural population's changes as marriages, births and death are characterized in the study. These processes have been presented for the town of Kraków and for particular neighboring communes. It has been tried to show the population phenomena on the background of development conditions in the years considered and to characterize their present-day state for a comparison. The elaboration is based mainly on source materials included in old documents of the Kraków municipal council and of neighbouring communes.
