Political, Institutional and Consciousness Conditions of the Round Table Agreement in Poland. An Attempt at Conceptualization

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze in conceptual framework of non-Marxian historical materialism social condition of Round Table agreement between communist authorities and Solidarność. This compromise depends on the balance of power between rulers and civil society, choices of proper strategy by the elite of the class of citizens and the class of rulers and having effective organization letting to introduce chosen strategy of realization of class interest. These thesis are ilustrated by historical description of the negotiating process between the authorities and opposition in Poland.
