Abstract

The Futurists Are Laughing In the article the author analyses the futurist views on laughter. Using the phenomenological analyses of Isaac Passi and Simon Critchley, the author shows the oscillations of the futurist comicality between the solemnity and the tragic experience of existence. In the conclusion the author proposes a notion in opposition to the Derrida-Platonic idea of the pharmakon; an understanding of laughter which he names jadyczne [a pun utilising “yad” and “venom” which in Polish sound the same]. In this respect, more visibly than in the pharmakon, this understanding retains the textual presence and emergence of risus.
