FROM THE ANCIENT TO MODERN PHILOSOPHERS Among social consequences of rationalization of religion by philosophers marginalization of those rationalization factors never was a rule or a exception. However, it made one of the possibili-ties (realized or not) depending on the type of rationalization made, historical circumstances in which it was made as well many other variables. It all leads us to the point, when it is hard to formulate in this matter such generalizations, which do not cause any substantial reservations. It also relates to the generalizations formulated by Max Weber. In this paper I do recall in some way the weberian perception of intellectuals and intellectualism, but I also propose an inclusion of significant correc-tions and supplements in Weber’s theses.
